Public auctions

These are the public auctions themselves — not a store, and not a single seller. Anyone from the general public can register for an account on these platforms. You do not need a commercial dealer license to bid unless a specific listing is legally restricted to licensed dismantlers or scrap processors.

PUBLIC AUCTION

Auctions International — state surplus

Mass.gov directs the public here for Commonwealth surplus: vehicles, equipment, and office furniture previously owned by Massachusetts. Terms and conditions are in each listing.

PUBLIC AUCTION

GovDeals — state and municipal

National government liquidation platform used by Massachusetts state divisions and municipalities. Create a free account, then search by Massachusetts or by selling agency.

PUBLIC AUCTION

Public Surplus — towns and agencies

Another public-auction platform listed as a data source on the live Surplus Scout site. Search "Public Surplus Massachusetts" and use the official Public Surplus site — town listings, including municipal surplus disposals, appear there.

Before you bid — public auction rules

This section is a guide to the platforms, not a live auction list. For live lots, see Top Deals above and click through to the platform listing.

Surplus finds · Fixed price or buy-now · Separate from auctions

Massachusetts surplus for sale at a set price

Town, school and state surplus you can buy at a listed price instead of bidding. Each listing on the live site has its source, town, price and posted date; anything the seller didn't state says "unknown".

SURPLUS · BUY NOW

State surplus — Auctions International

Mass.gov directs the public to Auctions International for state surplus auctions: vehicles, equipment, and office furniture previously owned by the Commonwealth. The general public cannot buy directly from the state's Surplus Property website — public auctions only.

How it works

Three steps, every week

1. We scan public auctions

Open town, school and state surplus lots across Massachusetts on Municibid, GovDeals, Mass OSD / Auctions International, and Public Surplus, plus free-pickup posts on Craigslist, Freecycle, and Trash Nothing.

2. We price against real sold listings

A lot gets a spread only when 2+ completed sales of a close match are verified on their result pages. Every comp is linked. If we can't back it, we say so and leave it on the radar.

3. You decide what to bid on

Pro shows the comps, the spread after the buyer's fee and a net range after pickup from your ZIP. You bid on the auction site yourself.
